Agent Workflow
Build the orchestration layer enabling autonomous agents to reason, plan, and execute complex security workflows. Design multi-agent workflow backend services. Build advanced RAG pipelines and Tool Use capabilities.
About the Role
Tenable is building an Agentic AI Platform as a founding initiative. This is the orchestration layer and nervous system that enables autonomous agents to reason, plan, and execute complex security workflows. Rather than simply using LLMs, you will architect distributed systems transforming generative models into reliable, enterprise-grade agents.
Core Responsibilities
- Architect backend services enabling multi-agent workflows and state management across distributed systems
- Design scalable workflow engines with human-in-the-loop controls for autonomous investigations and remediation
- Bridge Python-based AI frameworks with Tenable's JVM-based microservices architecture
- Implement verification layers, citations, and security guardrails treating prompts as code
- Build advanced RAG pipelines and Tool Use capabilities querying databases and APIs
- Lead technical direction collaborating with researchers and product leaders on AI orchestration roadmaps
Required Qualifications
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years backend systems, APIs, and platform development (7+ for Staff level)
- Hands-on agentic AI work using LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, or Pydantic AI
- Python proficiency (essential); JVM language experience (Java/Kotlin/Scala) preferred
- Event-driven architectures, concurrency management, fault-tolerant services (Kafka, gRPC, REST)
- PostgreSQL and vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus) or Elasticsearch
- Self-starter mindset for production-grade AI development
- Must be authorized to work in U.S. without visa sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
- LLM operations and agent performance evaluation frameworks
- AWS deployment with Docker and Kubernetes
- Knowledge graphs or advanced search algorithms
- Cybersecurity domain knowledge
