Sr AI Engineer

Descartes & Mauss is hiring a Senior AI Engineer in Paris (permanent contract, 5+ years experience) to build an AI-powered copilot platform. Descartes & Mauss is a 35-employee SaaS company founded in 2021 that raised €5.5M in May 2024.

Responsibilities:

• Define and drive AI strategy around RAG, semantic search, LLMs, and agent orchestration.
• Lead and grow a team (MLEs, data scientists, data engineers) through mentoring and code reviews.
• Design and industrialize AI pipelines: ingestion, vectorization, indexing, fine-tuning, evaluation, monitoring.
• Design agentic workflows including task decomposition, tool integration, autonomous decision-making.
• Connect AI agents with external tools, APIs, databases, and automation platforms.
• Ensure robustness and scalability of AI components.
• Collaborate with Product team to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Conduct continuous technology watch on RAG, LLMOps, evaluation frameworks, agents, multimodality.

Requirements:

• 5+ years ML/NLP/LLM experience on production-grade projects.
• Strong RAG & LLMOps knowledge: vector DBs, retrievers, embeddings, evaluation.
• Excellent Python skills; backend/data architecture understanding.
• ML deployment, CI/CD, monitoring experience.
• Technical leadership and mentoring abilities.

Stack: LangGraph, LangChain (agent orchestration), vector databases and embeddings, PyTorch, Transformers, Hugging Face, FastAPI, Airflow, Spark, LLM evaluation frameworks.
