About the Role
Liberate is seeking a Staff AI Agent Engineer to own complex, high-impact AI agent deployments end-to-end for insurance carriers and brokers. You'll design, build, and iterate on agent workflows, prompts, evaluations, and integrations, converting customer-specific solutions into reusable templates, playbooks, and patterns while raising engineering quality standards across the team.
What you'll do:
- Own complex, high-impact agent deployments from design through production
- Design and build agent workflows, prompts, evaluations, and integrations
- Convert customer-specific solutions into reusable templates, playbooks, and patterns
- Collaborate with Product and Platform teams
- Debug agent behavior through structured evaluations and monitoring
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers
What we're looking for:
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Production systems operation expertise
- Python fluency and modern backend systems knowledge (APIs, services, cloud)
- Experience working with LLM-based systems, prompts, tools, or agent frameworks
- Quality reasoning and failure mode analysis
- Direct customer-facing technical problem-solving
- High ownership and judgment
Nice to have:
- Agentic systems, evaluation frameworks, or AI observability experience
- B2B SaaS or regulated environment background
- Pattern extraction from bespoke solutions
Location: Boston, MA or San Francisco (Berkeley), CA (hybrid, 2 days/week in office)
