AI Engineer (Hybrid Bellevue, WA or Remote Florida)

OfferUp's Data team functions as the engine of intelligence at OfferUp, transforming marketplace data into seamless, safe, and personalized experiences. This AI Engineer position bridges research and production, focusing on systems that power search, trust & safety, and personalization across the platform.

What you'll do:

• Design and deploy agentic AI systems and RAG pipelines for production features
• Integrate LLMs into product experiences (search, categorization, communication, trust & safety)
• Partner with data scientists and engineers to productionize research
• Own AI features end-to-end from design through deployment
• Deliver search, personalization, and trust & safety capabilities
• Build production RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, and LLM deployment infrastructure
• Build evaluation pipelines, monitoring, and guardrails for LLM-backed systems

Required Qualifications:

• 2-4 years building and deploying AI/ML systems in production
• 2+ years professional Python development
• Hands-on experience with agentic frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, or similar)
• Function calling and tool-use design expertise
• Practical RAG system building (vector search, semantic chunking, rerankers)
• LLM API experience, prompt engineering, structured outputs
• Async Python proficiency (asyncio, streaming) and Pydantic
• Strong SQL skills for large-scale data systems
• Bachelor's degree in CS, Math, Statistics, or equivalent experience
• Collaborative mindset and strong communication

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

• LLMOps tooling: Ragas, DeepEval, LangSmith, Arize Phoenix, NeMo guardrails
• AWS cloud deployment for AI services
• GraphRAG or knowledge graph integration (Neo4j/FalkorDB)
• ReAct, Plan-and-Solve, or multi-agent collaboration patterns

Tech Stack:

Python, LangChain, LangGraph, RAG (vector search, semantic chunking, rerankers), AWS, async Python, Pydantic, SQL.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Base Salary Range: $140,000 - $160,000
• Equity stake in OfferUp; amount varies by level and experience
