About the Role
WorkFlex seeks an Applied AI Engineer to serve as an internal force-multiplier embedded within operations teams. Rather than traditional ticket-taking, this role focuses on identifying and automating friction points across departments like Compliance, Customer Success, and Operations.
The position emphasizes orchestration over coding, leveraging Claude Code, Cursor, and agentic workflows to build solutions rapidly. Engineers will design independent sidecar applications and internal tools that integrate with the core Java/Angular platform via APIs.
Key Responsibilities
- Embedded Discovery: Shadow compliance officers and success managers to identify high-impact automation opportunities
- Rapid Prototyping & Deployment: Design and deliver internal agents, LLM interfaces, and research pipelines
- Consultative Partnership: Report to Head of Technology; collaborate directly with department heads
- Smart Integrations: Build API-based integrations with core platform systems
- Advanced Workflow Development: Use Python, Node, or TypeScript for sophisticated agentic logic beyond low-code tools like n8n
Requirements
- 2+ years professional engineering background
- Power-user proficiency with Claude and LLM tools; understanding of prompting, chaining, and output auditing
- Tech-stack agnostic; comfortable selecting appropriate tools
- Ability to translate non-technical stakeholder frustrations into solutions
- Autonomous roadmap definition based on value delivery
