About the Role

Bolt.new is an AI-powered builder for full-stack applications. Built by StackBlitz, our WebContainers technology enables Node.js execution in browsers and serves over a million monthly developers. We're hiring a Staff Applied AI Engineer to lead the technical direction of the AI agents that turn natural language into production-ready applications.

What you'll do:

  • Define the patterns and systems that govern how AI reasons about and generates full-stack applications
  • Establish organizational patterns for context management and workflow orchestration
  • Manage multi-provider LLM strategies across OpenAI (GPT), Anthropic (Claude), and Google (Gemini); evaluate and recommend models while building provider relationships
  • Design the foundational systems that enable AI agents to call external tools and APIs safely
  • Architect agent loops, evaluation frameworks, and prompt strategies that ship to millions of users
  • Establish evaluation standards and drive AI research innovation across the team
  • Provide cross-team technical leadership across product, engineering, and design
  • Identify emerging LLM research techniques offering competitive advantages

What we're looking for:

  • TypeScript proficiency with daily usage expectations
  • Extensive hands-on LLM production experience demonstrating understanding of capabilities and limitations
  • Deep prompt engineering expertise with mentoring ability
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and architectural design experience
  • Ability managing ambiguous, high-scope challenges with minimal guidance
  • Systems thinking applied to technical and organizational debt
  • Data-driven evaluation framework development
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Vercel's AI SDK, LangGraph, and DSPy
  • Machine learning fundamentals and evaluation metrics knowledge
  • Open-source AI/ML contributions
  • AI/ML research paper implementation experience
  • Conference speaking or technical content publication

Schedule:

This is a remote role that requires flexibility to work from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM Pacific Time in order to support collaboration across multiple time zones.

No degree required. No geographic restrictions (non-U.S. candidates welcome).

Tech stack: TypeScript, Vercel AI SDK, LangGraph, DSPy. Multi-provider LLMs: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google.
