About the Role
Cadence is a clinical AI company delivering continuous, proactive care for older adults living with chronic conditions. We are a full clinical care delivery organization, not a software vendor: we integrate with health system EMRs and use our Clinical Intelligence platform to monitor vitals, optimize medications, and act on patient signals before a crisis.
We are looking for an Applied AI Engineer to design and deploy the clinical AI agents and LLM workflows that power our care delivery.
What you'll do:
- Design, build, and deploy clinical AI agents that reason over patient context, invoke tools, and generate care recommendations
- Own reliability, observability, and cost efficiency of LLM workflows at scale
- Build and optimize RAG pipelines over clinical knowledge bases, treatment protocols, and real-time patient data
- Develop evaluation frameworks: offline benchmarks, safety tests, regression suites, and LLM-as-judge pipelines
- Design multi-step agent orchestration: planning, memory, tool use, error recovery, and human-in-the-loop escalation
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor's/Master's in Computer Science or equivalent
- 3+ years software engineering; 2+ years building AI/ML systems in production
- Hands-on experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, open-source models) including prompt engineering and tool use
- Experience with RAG systems (embeddings, vector stores, retrieval optimization)
- Experience with agent frameworks or orchestration patterns (preferred)
- Fine-tuning experience (SFT, RLHF, LoRA) preferred
- Healthcare or regulated-industry experience (HIPAA, SOC 2) preferred
Compensation: $135,000-$165,000 base salary plus equity.
