About the Role

Expedia Group seeks a senior engineer to lead architecture and delivery of real-time, AI-powered fraud and abuse defense systems globally within the Fraud & Risk division, protecting the marketplace across all customer touchpoints and channels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own technical architecture for AI-driven risk solutions and design cloud-native decisioning and automated remediation systems
  • Integrate generative and agentic AI into fraud detection workflows
  • Build, deploy, and operate ML solutions in production
  • Establish SLOs, observability, and safety mechanisms
  • Evaluate and benchmark vendor and open-source AI solutions
  • Modernize the platform and align cross-functional teams around measurable outcomes
  • Mentor other engineers on AI adoption

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 9+ years of software engineering experience with production ML/AI systems
  • Demonstrable experience building, monitoring and debugging LLM and multi-agent applications, with frameworks and platforms such as LangChain, LangGraph, Langfuse, or equivalent
  • Strong coding skills in Java, Scala, Go, or Python
  • Distributed cloud-native engineering experience (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • SQL/NoSQL databases and data streaming expertise

Tech stack includes LangChain, LangGraph, Langfuse, LlamaIndex, vector databases (Pinecone), LLM providers (OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic), and streaming infrastructure (Kafka, Flink, Spark).

Compensation: base cash range $184,500 - $258,000, with performance-based total potential up to $295,000.
