About the Role
Factory seeks Research Engineers to design and integrate advanced AI and ML capabilities that revolutionize productivity within software organizations. We're hiring Research Engineers to create advanced AI/ML systems that enhance software development productivity.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI-driven agentic systems that enhance Factory's core AI capabilities, focusing on retrieval, code generation evaluation, and agent architecture.
• Collaborate with product teams to translate emerging AI research into practical solutions.
• Rapid prototyping based on developer feedback; iterate based on real-world feedback.
• Address platform stability and scalability challenges at scale.

Required Skills

• 2+ years hands-on AI/ML engineering experience post-degree.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, AI, or related field.
• Proficiency with Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Problem-solving with complex, unstructured data.
• Track record applying ML to complex problems.
• Strong communication and strategic thinking.
• Self-motivated approach to navigating research projects from conception to deployment.
• Data-intensive application experience (desirable).
• Software development lifecycle familiarity (preferred).

Work Arrangement
This is an in-office role, 5 days per week at our San Francisco office (walking distance to Caltrain).
