About the Role
Machinify is a leading healthcare intelligence company whose AI-powered platform is deployed by over 85 health plans representing 270+ million lives, delivering solutions for payment integrity and audit.
We are hiring a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and development of large-scale systems that power AI in healthcare. You will lead the development of our agentic workflows and document processing systems that review millions of healthcare claims every year.
What you'll do:
- Lead development of document processing pipelines handling hundreds of millions of documents annually
- Design and implement agentic workflows reviewing millions of healthcare claims yearly
- Evolve our agentic ecosystem through innovation in prompt development lifecycle, optimal utilization of various flavors of multi-modal (text + vision) LLMs, context extraction, RAG, and workflow orchestration
- Drive observability and explainability across production-grade AI systems
- Collaborate across Data Science, Data Engineering, and Product teams
- Address infrastructure needs and mentor engineers on production-grade AI systems
What we're looking for:
- 6+ years software engineering experience; 2+ years building agentic systems or AI-driven workflows in an enterprise setting
- Strong Java and Python proficiency (Scala a plus)
- Experience with large-scale, distributed systems processing unstructured data
- Proven ability to productionize AI/ML techniques (e.g., LLM prompt engineering, RAG, workflow automation, and agents) with a focus on reliability
- Monitoring/observability tools knowledge (Prometheus, Grafana)
- Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science or equivalent
- Big-data tools experience (Spark, Flink, Kafka, Airflow, Ray) preferred
