About the Role
Pallet is a logistics technology company building a transportation management system (TMS) and AI Agents that work alongside operations teams. Our latest product, CoPallet, introduces AI Agents that can understand and execute requests in real time, and integrate directly with customer systems.
As a Forward Deployed Software Engineer (AI Agents), you will deploy production AI agents inside some of the world's largest logistics companies. You'll work directly with logistics operators to understand their workflows, then ship code that automates them end-to-end. This is a customer-facing engineering role where you own the full stack — from prompt design and tool orchestration to backend services and integrations.
What you'll do
- Embed with strategic logistics customers to understand workflows and design agent solutions
- Architect and ship production AI agents using foundation models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google, plus models fine-tuned on Vertex AI
- Build event-driven backend services in Node.js + TypeScript on Encore.dev and GCP
- Wire up browser automation with Playwright, integrate with customer systems, and instrument everything in Datadog
- Iterate fast on agent behavior based on real customer feedback
What we're looking for
- 2-4+ years of software engineering experience
- Strong product instincts and ability to ship in customer-facing environments
- Comfort with TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and modern cloud infrastructure
- Excitement about working in person 5 days/week and traveling ~25% to customer sites
