Senior AI Engineer

Skalar is a Munich-based founding-team startup building tax and accounting automation. We're looking for a Senior AI Engineer to develop our core AI capabilities from inception through maturity.

What you'll do:

• Take major AI features and intelligent agents end-to-end (spec, ship, measure)
• Design robust LLM integrations, RAG pipelines, data models, and prompt management systems with significant autonomy
• Ship features rapidly and iterate based on user feedback from internal operations
• Mentor junior engineers as the company scales

What we're looking for:

• 5+ years software engineering experience with recent applied generative AI focus
• Bachelor's or Master's in computer science or related field
• Deep hands-on experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini) and agentic frameworks
• Strong Python programming skills
• Vector database expertise (pgvector, Pinecone)
• Cloud basics (AWS/GCP, Docker)
• English and German fluency (C1+)
• Valid German work permit

Suggested stack: LangChain/Vercel AI SDK, vector databases.
