AI Engineer, Agent Builder

AI transformation firm shipping production AI systems for mid-market enterprises in regulated and technical domains: finance, energy, industrials, healthcare. We ship working systems alongside our clients' engineering teams. Small teams, deep expertise, real autonomy on real work.

About the role:

Hands-on builder embedded on the same engagement. Build individual capability agents end-to-end: prompts, tool integrations, retrieval, evals, monitoring. Implement integrations between the orchestration layer and client engineering tools.

Requirements:

• 3-5 years professional software engineering, strong Python.
• Real production LLM API experience.
• Shipped at least one complete agent system end-to-end.
• Fast iteration based on feedback; clear written communication.
• 1099 contract, ~30-40 hrs/wk. Occasional domestic travel to major metros.

Stack: Claude + OpenAI + Gemini + Perplexity APIs in production, open-source models (Llama, Mistral, Qwen) when the math points there. Cursor and Claude Code daily. Vercel, Neon, Sentry. Evals as first-class artifacts.
