Applied AI Engineer

Crosby is the AI-powered law firm built for execution — an agentic legal services firm of the future designed for hyper-growth startups. The team specializes in sales agreements (MSAs, DPAs, NDAs) and reviews contracts in under an hour, sometimes minutes, accelerated by proprietary AI tooling.

As an Applied AI Engineer, you will own intelligent features across the entire lifecycle, from system design to model customization. You'll build core AI systems including complex Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and agentic workflows, and fine-tune language models for legal-specific tasks. You'll collaborate with attorneys and engineers to enhance legal services with agentic systems.

The work spans agents that handle initial passes at standard contract changes, flag common issues, and prepare preliminary redlines so attorneys can focus on strategic decisions and complex legal reasoning. You'll work on prompt engineering, model evaluation, RAG over legal documents, and end-to-end agent workflows in production.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design and scale AI features powering the Crosby platform
• Fine-tune and adapt language models for specialized legal applications
• Develop evaluation and monitoring systems for production AI features
• Collaborate with product, backend, and legal teams on end-to-end solutions

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years building and shipping AI/ML products
• Deep Python proficiency
• Hands-on experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic)
• Data-driven problem solving with strong product focus
• Full ownership mentality for features from concept to deployment

Full-time, on-site in NYC, with equity. Backed by Sequoia and Bain Capital Ventures; recently raised $20M.

Compensation: $170,000 - $250,000 base salary.
