AI/ML Applied Engineer

Karumi (YC F25) lets SaaS companies deliver personalized product demos at scale, 24/7, in any language. Their AI agent learns from any software product, joins video calls with prospects, and navigates the product in a real browser while talking, listening, and taking actions.

About the role:

As an AI/ML Applied Engineer you'll build and optimize the core agentic systems that power Karumi's live, voice-driven product demos. This is a hands-on applied engineering role focused on shipping production AI, not research.

What you'll do:

• Build and optimize voice AI systems using speech-to-text and text-to-speech models for natural, low-latency conversation.
• Design browser agents that navigate, understand, and interact with web applications in real time.
• Implement browser automation combining computer vision and DOM understanding.
• Engineer prompt systems and LLM workflows for consistent, intelligent agent behavior.
• Create evaluation frameworks to measure voice quality, agent accuracy, and user experience.
• Integrate multimodal AI combining voice, vision, and language understanding.

What we're looking for:

• 6+ years of applied engineering experience.
• Strong Python.
• Experience building production LLM-powered or agentic systems.
• Comfort with voice AI, browser automation, computer vision, or multimodal systems is a strong plus.

Location: New York, NY or San Francisco, CA. Visa sponsorship available for qualified candidates.

Compensation: $120K-$170K + 0.40-1.00% equity.
