About the Role
Descript seeks experienced engineers to join their Agent team, which launched in open beta in July 2025. The role focuses on building the future of Agentic Video Editing through AI-powered video and audio content creation tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Experimentation to push the limits on quality for the video editing agent (harness/tool design, context optimization, multimodal development)
- Building product experiences for chat-based editing interactions and user retention through prompt tuning and product capabilities
- Developing infrastructure and tools for agent building (logging, evaluation frameworks, monitoring)
Requirements
- 5+ years professional product engineering or fullstack experience
- TypeScript, React, and RESTful API proficiency
- Strong computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, databases like Postgres/Redis)
- High ownership and growth mindset
- Collaborative approach across product, design, and research teams
Preferred: Creative tool development background, agent building and evaluation infrastructure, LLM-powered product design.
