Lead Agent Engineer (LangChain)

Focused is hiring a Lead Agent Engineer (LangChain) in Chicago. You build production-ready AI systems with LangChain and large language models. You lead teams across full-stack delivery, from backend services to web interfaces. You pair-program daily with teammates and clients, practice test-driven development and continuous refactoring, and guide architectural choices for scalability and observability. You mentor developers, shape technical direction across teams, and experiment with emerging generative AI patterns.

Requirements:

• Hands-on full-stack engineering with a collaborative, agile delivery track record
• Practical experience with LangChain (or similar agentic frameworks) and the ability to architect AI-native systems responsibly and effectively
• Deep expertise with LangChain, LangGraph, and LangSmith
• Engineering team leadership and mentoring capabilities
• Proficiency across multiple languages and frameworks (Python, Node, Java, React, Next.js)
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
• Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders

Work model: 3 days/week in the Chicago office (Tue-Thu) plus up to 20% US travel.
Compensation: $175,000 - $250,000.
