Intuit's T4I (Tech for Intuit) team seeks a Staff Engineer to architect and deploy AI-powered agents and copilots supporting enterprise workforce operations. This role emphasizes applied AI systems, moving solutions from concept to production-ready implementations integrated with internal platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deploy AI agents/copilots augmenting employee workflows
- Own end-to-end AI systems from model selection through production interfaces
- Evaluate problems to determine optimal solutions using LLMs, classical ML, or rule-based approaches
- Build scalable retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and context pipelines
- Create rapid prototypes exploring new agent capabilities and integrations
- Ensure production reliability, observability, security, and cost efficiency
- Collaborate across product, design, platform teams, and stakeholders
- Mentor engineers and shape organizational AI development practices
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years building large-scale production systems in software/ML engineering
- Hands-on experience designing/deploying real-world LLM-based AI systems
- Proficiency making informed tradeoffs between LLMs, traditional ML, and heuristic solutions
- Experience building RAG pipelines, agent frameworks, function-calling architectures, and conversational interfaces
- Strong backend engineering (Python, Java), API design, and distributed systems knowledge
- AWS cloud deployment experience with observability and cost considerations
- Enterprise data integration experience maintaining security/privacy standards
- Self-directed work style managing ambiguity with aggressive timelines
- Demonstrated mentorship and technical influence capabilities
Locations: Mountain View, CA; San Diego, CA
Compensation
- Bay Area: $202,500-$274,000
- Southern California: $188,500-$255,000
