Applied AI Engineer

Infer (YC S21) is building the operating system for insurance agencies. We make AI agents — including voice agents — that handle work agencies have always done by hand, such as qualifying inbound leads and helping producers during live calls.

As an Applied AI Engineer you'll build and ship production AI agent and voice-agent systems for sales, customer support, and insurance claims. You'll work hands-on with large language models, prompting, tool use, and the orchestration that makes these agents reliable in real-world insurance workflows.

We're a small, fast-moving team (YC Summer 2021) backed by top investors. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys building production AI systems end-to-end.

Requirements: 3+ years of engineering experience; hands-on experience building with LLMs and AI agents; strong programming skills; comfort owning systems from prototype to production.
