Agent Workflow

Architect multi-step agent workflows coordinating tools, APIs, and sandboxed code execution. Build the Vercel Agent — an agent investigating incidents, fixing build failures, reviewing code, and answering questions across dashboard, CLI, and Slack.

About the Role

About Vercel

Vercel provides developers the tools and cloud infrastructure to build, scale, and secure a faster, more personalized web. The company is behind v0, Next.js, and AI SDK, serving clients including Ramp, Supreme, PayPal, and Under Armour.

About the role

The Agent team's goal is that deploying on Vercel should feel like adding a seasoned infrastructure engineer to your team. The agent investigates incidents, fixes build failures, reviews code with production context, and answers questions about running applications.

Current shipped products include automated code review, AI-driven production anomaly investigation, intelligent customer support agents, and conversational code generation. These are now being unified into a single agent across the Vercel dashboard, CLI, Slack, and other surfaces.

  • Design and build agentic systems investigating, diagnosing, and remediating production issues
  • Architect multi-step agent workflows coordinating tools, APIs, and sandboxed code execution
  • Build skills and tool integrations for deep Vercel platform knowledge
  • Ship polished user-facing experiences across multiple surfaces without designer mockups
  • Develop infrastructure for dynamic skill injection enabling runtime capability acquisition
  • Collaborate on prompt engineering, model evaluation, and RAG pipelines

Requirements

  • 7+ years full-time software engineering; strong TypeScript proficiency
  • Track record of openness and adaptability shifting into new technologies and domains
  • Strong product and UI sensibility
  • Full-stack capability understanding infrastructure, CI/CD, and observability
  • Framework and platform building experience
  • Independent shipping ability with architectural influence
  • Excellent communication translating technical details for engineering and partner teams

Bonus

  • Agentic systems, AI tooling, or automation framework experience (production-proven)
  • LLM API familiarity (Anthropic, OpenAI); prompt engineering; RAG experience
  • Vercel, Next.js, or modern web deployment ecosystem experience
  • Sandboxed execution, container orchestration, or secure multi-tenant systems experience

Compensation

Base salary: $232,000 - $348,000 USD (San Francisco base; Staff level IC and above)

Logistics

  • Hybrid: in-office anchor days Monday, Tuesday, Friday

Benefits

Competitive compensation with equity, inclusive healthcare, mentorship and networking events, flexible time off, equipment and work-from-home budget.
