Staff Machine Learning Engineer

Backbase leads in AI-native banking technology, helping the world's biggest banks move from fragmented systems to unified frontlines where humans and AI agents work together. As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer, you'll architect and build intelligent systems that power agent-based experiences inside the Engagement Banking Platform.

Responsibilities:

• Design and deploy production ML models for banking use cases
• Partner with product teams on AI integration
• Own the full ML lifecycle from data discovery through monitoring
• Build maintainable ML pipelines and APIs
• Conduct code reviews and mentor engineers
• Build production-ready agentic systems and intelligent automations

Requirements:

• 5+ years ML/AI engineering experience
• Strong Python skills
• Deep familiarity with PyTorch and TensorFlow
• Hands-on experience deploying ML systems to production at scale
• Experience with LLMs, RAG, or agent-based systems in production
• Knowledge of Spark, Kafka, model versioning, monitoring/observability, and modern MLOps practices
