Senior Backend Engineer

Parloa builds agentic AI for enterprise customer experience, powering over one billion interactions between global enterprise brands (Booking.com, Allianz, SAP and others) and their customers. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will work on a marketplace of tools and integrations which Parloa's agents leverage via MCP (Model Context Protocol), providing secure, managed access to business systems while controlling security and risk.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build and maintain secure and scalable backend services.
• Optimize system performance for low latency, high throughput and reliability.
• Collaborate across teams to integrate machine learning components into production systems.
• Lead technical initiatives (3-9 month horizon) from design through implementation and maintenance.
• Drive operational excellence and contribute to architecture and engineering culture.

Requirements:

• 7+ years as a software engineer.
• TypeScript and Node.js (ideally NestJS), or comparable framework experience.
• Experience building highly scalable microservices.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architectures and APIs.
• Cloud-native infrastructure (Kubernetes, GCP/AWS).
• Fluent English; openness to AI-assisted coding tools.

Tech stack: TypeScript, Node.js, React, Python, FastAPI, Kubernetes, MongoDB, Azure, Kafka, NATS.

Hybrid role based in Berlin (hubs also in Munich and New York).
