Staff AI Agent Engineer

Liberate is hiring a Staff AI Agent Engineer to own complex, high-impact agent deployments from design through production. Liberate builds AI agents to automate manual tasks for the $2.7T insurance industry.

Location: Boston or San Francisco (Berkeley), hybrid (2 days/week in office)

Responsibilities:

• Own end-to-end agent deployments from design to production
• Design and iterate on workflows, prompts, evaluations, and integrations
• Convert customer-specific solutions into reusable templates and patterns
• Debug and optimize agent behavior via structured evaluations and monitoring
• Mentor other engineers and raise engineering standards
• Hands-on technical work with direct customer engagement

Requirements (Must Have):

• 6+ years professional software engineering experience
• Production systems expertise
• Python and modern backend systems proficiency
• Experience working with LLM-based systems, prompts, tools, or agent frameworks
• Customer-facing technical problem-solving capability
• Strong ownership and judgment under pressure

Nice to Have:

• Agentic systems, eval frameworks, or AI observability background
• B2B SaaS/enterprise software/regulated environment experience
• Ability to convert customized solutions into scalable systems
