Product Engineer (m/w/d)

This is a role for someone who owns a piece of product from idea to production, not someone executing tickets. It emphasizes product thinking alongside technical depth. At Orbit, engineers are "Operators of Intelligence" who work through structured, spec-driven workflows rather than prompt-and-hope development.

What You'll Do

Product & Features (~65%)

• Own features end-to-end, from conception through production
• Make technical decisions on data models, API design, and tradeoffs
• Develop user empathy through product data and analytics
• Contribute product ideas, not just implementations

Agentic Development (~20%)

• Practice spec-driven development with AI agents
• Co-develop the company's agentic development framework
• Manage multiple parallel agent-driven tracks
• Apply quality gates at each workflow step

System Improvement (~15%)

• Convert repeating patterns into documented, team-accessible workflows
• Treat context as infrastructure for both humans and agents
• Contribute to Orbit's agentic development leadership

Requirements

• Real software engineering experience; shipped products to production (0→1 preferred)
• Product Engineer mindset: outcome-focused, not implementation-focused
• Active agentic development experience
• Can parallelize multiple agent tracks cleanly
• Excellent written communication (async-first culture is critical)
• Self-directed and autonomous, needing minimal supervision
• EU-based; German language proficiency preferred
• Reliable and respectful team contributor

Nice to Have

• Logistics or freight industry background
• TypeScript / AWS / React stack experience
• Startup or founder experience
• Agent infrastructure, evals, or internal tooling development

• Universal: TypeScript, zod, tRPC, SST (Pulumi/AWS)
• Backend: Node.js, AWS Lambda, DynamoDB with ElectroDB, Cognito, S3, Athena, Meilisearch
• Frontend: React (Remix), Redux, Mantine, React Map GL
• Mobile: React Native & Expo
• Tooling: PNPM, Turborepo, Vitest, Sentry, ESLint/Prettier
• AI Layer: Anthropic models via AWS Bedrock; custom agentic framework
