Role Overview

As Staff Engineer, Agentic, you'll own the platforms and systems powering conversational AI at scale, collaborating across research, product, and infrastructure teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design backend systems for agentic workflows: orchestration, memory, retrieval, and tool integrations
• Operate high-availability inference and conversation pipelines, optimizing for latency, cost, and quality
• Build internal platform infrastructure including CI/CD, observability, evaluation harnesses, and rollout systems
• Partner with researchers and frontend engineers on user-facing features
• Drive features from prototype to production with measurable user impact

Required Qualifications:

• 10-15 years backend engineering in cloud environments shipping production systems
• Production experience shipping agentic AI systems with real user impact (not prototypes)
• Expertise in Python, Postgres, Redis, and major cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) with containers and Kubernetes
• Practical experience with LLM application patterns: RAG, tool use, evaluation loops, and latency/cost/quality tradeoffs
• Strong ownership and independent system delivery capability

Nice-to-Haves:

• Agent orchestration frameworks (LangGraph, LlamaIndex, OpenAI/Anthropic Agent SDKs)
• Evaluation tooling familiarity (LangSmith, Braintrust)
• Streaming, queueing, or vector database infrastructure experience
• On-call customer-facing service ownership
• Open-source agent/LLM tooling contributions

Compensation & Benefits: $350,000–$500,000 base plus meaningful equity; medical/dental/vision, 401k matching, unlimited PTO, parental leave, visa sponsorship support.
