Role Overview
This Staff AI Engineer role drives the technical evolution of Acquia DAM (digital asset management), a platform featuring auto-tagging, facial recognition, duplicate asset detection, and natural language search. The engineer integrates DAM with Acquia's broader AI ecosystem, focusing on autonomous asset governance, agentic orchestration, and smart visual transformations. This is a hands-on role building stateful, multi-agent workflows for enterprise scale.
Responsibilities:
- Write and ship production AI code daily — you are an active contributor.
- Architect agentic AI workflows using LangGraph, Temporal, and Pydantic — stateful, multi-agent workflows built for enterprise scale.
- Own AI observability via LangFuse: tracing, prompt versioning, evaluation, and performance benchmarking.
- Set AI engineering standards for agent design patterns, RAG, prompt management, context optimization, and tool-calling strategies.
- Collaborate with product teams on enterprise architectures and deliver AI architectures that meet enterprise SLA, security, and compliance requirements.
- Evaluate emerging AI tooling and technologies.
- Mentor engineers through code review and pairing on agent design patterns and prompt management strategies.
- Support customer architectural discussions and reviews.
Requirements:
- 8+ years software engineering experience; 3+ years building production AI agents.
- Hands-on experience with LangGraph, Temporal, and Pydantic.
- AI observability experience with LangFuse (tracing, evaluation, prompt management).
- Experience with LangChain or similar frameworks (LlamaIndex, CrewAI).
- Deep Python proficiency with strong fundamentals.
- Cloud deployment experience (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- RAG architecture knowledge: vector databases, embedding models, and retrieval strategies.
- Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Desired:
- Enterprise SaaS/CMS familiarity, particularly Drupal-based systems.
- AI-assisted coding tool fluency (Copilot, Cursor, Claude).
- Persistent agent runtimes knowledge.
- LLM fine-tuning and model evaluation experience.
- Human-in-the-loop agent design.
- Strong communication across technical and executive audiences.
Salary: $180,000–$200,000 USD.
