Salary: $218,000 - $421,000 USD + bonus + equity

Role Overview
The position involves serving as the primary architect of QuillBot's intelligence layer, transitioning the platform from discrete AI tools to unified agentic systems. Reports to VP of AI and leads both R&D and Applied AI teams.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design orchestration systems for multi-step workflows across products unifying the product suite into workflows serving tens of millions of users
- Design intent recognition and task decomposition systems across product surfaces
- Lead AI R&D spanning text and multimodal (text/image) capabilities
- Own MLOps, model updates, data pipelines, and production system reliability at scale
- Build and reshape the AI organization, hiring as needed
- Drive cross-functional alignment with engineering, product, and design teams
Required Qualifications
- Production experience building agentic systems or orchestration platforms at meaningful scale (not prototypes)
- Expertise in distributed agent coordination (plan-based, scripted, hybrid approaches)
- Multi-session, context-aware state management across workflows
- Compute optimization balancing latency, unit economics, and reliability
- NLP/multimodal AI background with model strategy decision-making ability
- Proven leadership of combined R&D and Applied AI/MLOps teams in consumer environments
- Track record scaling systems from early-stage (0-to-1) through production maturity

Compensation
Base salary: $218,000-$421,000 USD depending on location, plus bonus, equity, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, retirement, parental leave, wellness stipend, tech stipend).
