Senior AI Engineer

Metropolis is building AI systems for the Recognition Economy, starting with parking automation and expanding into retail and hospitality. We're looking for a Senior AI Engineer to join our Applied AI organization to design and deploy AI-powered tools and automation pipelines that replace manual, repetitive work across the business.

What you'll do:

• Design and ship AI automation tools that transform business processes
• Architect LLM systems including prompt pipelines, agentic workflows, tool-calling integrations, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) setups
• Build data pipelines connecting Snowflake, APIs, and SaaS tools into AI workflows
• Partner with Process Analysts to translate requirements and iterate
• Own production monitoring, alerting, and output quality
• Evaluate emerging AI tools and frameworks
• Contribute to internal AI development standards

Requirements:

• 6+ years software engineering, 2+ years deploying LLM/AI applications in production
• Strong Python for APIs, pipelines, and backends
• Hands-on experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar), prompt engineering, and agentic patterns including function calling and tool use
• SQL and cloud data warehouse experience (Snowflake preferred)
• Workflow orchestration (Airflow, Prefect) and AWS
• Iterative shipping mindset; product-quality instincts

Nice to have: vector databases, embeddings, or semantic search experience.

Onsite 4 days/week in Seattle. Salary: $170,000 to $200,000.
