Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Public Sector

The role focuses on leveraging generative AI, computer vision, reinforcement learning, and agentic AI to enhance Scale's products. The Public Sector ML team deploys advanced models to government systems through Donovan and Thunderforge, working across LLMs and computer vision.

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy state-of-the-art models into production to solve customer problems
• Improve and maintain production models through retraining and optimization
• Collaborate with product and research teams on ML-driven enhancements
• Work with massive datasets for both generic and fine-tuned models
• Build scalable ML infrastructure
• Build agent frameworks that integrate with custom retrieval pipelines and production APIs
• Develop evaluation tools to benchmark and refine agent behavior
• Advance reinforcement learning for agentic LLMs
• Serve as cross-functional ML advocate
• Learn new technologies quickly in fast-paced environment
• Travel approximately 10%
• Obtain or maintain active security clearance

Requirements

• Extensive GenAI/Agentic AI/NLP/deep learning/computer vision production experience
• Strong algorithms, data structures, and OOP background
• Python proficiency; TensorFlow or PyTorch experience

Nice-to-Haves

• Graduate degree in CS/ML/AI
• Cloud platform experience (AWS/GCP)
• Computer vision, generative AI, LLM, or agentic systems expertise
• ML evaluation frameworks knowledge

Salary (SF/NY/Seattle): $240,450 - $300,300 USD
Salary (DC/Texas/Colorado/Hawaii): $216,300 - $269,850 USD
