Applied AI Engineer
Company: Splitero Location: Remote Reports to: VP of Product and Engineering
Splitero seeks an Applied AI Engineer to identify, scope, and deliver AI capabilities across product and operations. This role bridges engineering with cross-functional teams in sales, processing, underwriting, and servicing to streamline workflows. The engineer will champion AI-first development, educate the team on emerging tooling, and lead technical initiatives.
Splitero sits at the intersection of financial services and property technology, helping homeowners access home equity without traditional lending restrictions.
AI Discovery & Strategy
- Act as internal thought leader on AI capabilities and limitations
- Maintain prioritized backlog of AI opportunities across the business
- Define initiatives end-to-end with problem framing and success criteria
- Stay current on AI tooling landscape and recommend adoption
Building & Delivery
- Build AI-powered features using LLM APIs, RAG pipelines, and agentic frameworks
- Develop automation workflows using n8n, Make for rapid delivery
- Integrate AI into existing systems and codebases
- Own full development lifecycle: prototyping, evaluation, deployment, monitoring
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Translate user problems into AI-driven features
- Embed within operations teams to identify automation opportunities
- Ensure AI integrations meet production standards
- Document implementations for team support
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years software engineering; 2+ years building production AI/LLM applications
- Hands-on experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation
- Experience evaluating and operationalizing AI tools across organizations
- Proficiency with n8n, Make, Zapier
- Comfortable with Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot
- Strong backend or full-stack fundamentals
- Python, TypeScript/Node.js fluency; PostgreSQL, cloud deployment familiarity
- Multi-agent framework experience (LangChain, LlamaIndex)
- Vector database and embedding pipeline knowledge
Preferred: Fintech, proptech, or real estate technology background. SOC 2 or data privacy framework knowledge.
Compensation: $135,000 - $175,000
