About the Role
Aveni is redefining how financial institutions use AI, building real, production-ready agentic systems that reshape how banks, advisers and financial services firms operate. The engineering team includes experienced software engineers and PhD-level AI specialists, with strong ties to the University of Edinburgh.
Aveni's products include Aveni Assist (AI-powered assistant reducing client administration from hours to minutes), Aveni Detect (compliance automation providing 100% quality assurance coverage), and FinLLM (a financial services-specific language model).
The role demands genuine depth in AI with a focus on leading LLM-powered feature development and setting the standard for how AI tooling amplifies the whole engineering process. Combined with full-stack and cloud-native skills.
Required: strong hands-on AI/LLM skills including prompt engineering, RAG, model evaluation and agent frameworks. Deep expertise in Node.js or Python. Cloud-native development experience.
Clients include Nationwide, Lloyds Banking Group, Schroders, Aviva, and other major UK financial institutions.
Salary: GBP 80,000-120,000. Edinburgh headquarters at 58 Morrison Street, EH3 8BP.
