Software Engineer, Forward Deployed Agent Builder

At Brex we're building the Forward Deployed Agent Builder team to ship AI agents that automate and augment internal functions across the company. You'll embed with internal teams (Finance, Legal, Sales, Compliance, Engineering) understand how they work, and design, build, and deploy agents that deliver measurable business outcomes.

What you'll do:

• Embed with teams to deeply understand workflows by shadowing and observation
• Design and deploy agents across internal organizations
• Integrate agents with internal systems, APIs, and data sources
• Establish evaluation frameworks and define success metrics
• Own reliability, adoption, and business impact end-to-end
• Build shared tooling and patterns that accelerate agent deployment across Brex

Requirements:

• 4+ years shipping production AI/automation systems
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, agent frameworks, and tool-use patterns (e.g., MCP, function calling, RAG)
• Database design expertise (SQL/NoSQL)
• Ability to decompose human workflows into scalable systems
• High ownership and cross-functional influence

Bonus: back-office automation experience; familiarity with OpenClaw, Hermes, or similar agent harnesses.

Hybrid: minimum three coordinated office days per week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday) at our Seattle office, plus up to four weeks per year of fully remote work.

Compensation: $152,000 to $240,000 base, plus equity and benefits.
