Applied AI Engineer - Agentic Workflows

Cohere seeks engineers to develop production-grade AI agents for enterprise customers at scale. The role involves designing and building LLM-powered agentic workflows from prototypes through production deployment, working directly with enterprise clients on real-world problems.

Key Responsibilities

Customer-Facing Work

• Translate business challenges into well-defined agent problems with success metrics
• Provide technical leadership across development and evaluation lifecycles
• Contribute reusable frameworks and patterns

Agent Development

• Lead design, build, and delivery of LLM-powered agents with enterprise reliability
• Balance rapid iteration with production requirements
• Define evaluation standards for success measurement
• Debug agent behavior and improve prompts, workflows, and guardrails

Team Leadership

• Mentor distributed team members
• Drive clarity and alignment in ambiguous situations

Required Skills & Experience

• Production-grade software development (Python/TypeScript)
• Hands-on agentic architecture experience (ReAct, Plan-and-Execute patterns)
• Deep familiarity with frontier LLMs (GPT, Claude, Gemini)
• RAG, vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate)
• Orchestration frameworks (LangGraph, CrewAI, custom state machines)
• Robust evaluation framework development
• Enterprise customer stakeholder management
• 5+ years experience, up to 25% travel
