Databricks seeks a Staff Software Engineer to join their newly established NYC Engineering office, working on 0-to-1 product development combining AI and data infrastructure. The role emphasizes building novel interfaces for GenAI agents managing complex workflows with human oversight.

• Create novel, never-seen-before interfaces for GenAI agents with inspectability and transparency
• Partner with product, design, and engineering teams on scalable solutions
• Lead full-stack software development for user-centric experiences
• Enable product-led growth through seamless onboarding and sharing
• Define strategy for end-to-end AI feature development
• Design systems emphasizing scalability, reliability, and performance

What we look for

• 10+ years HTML, CSS, JavaScript experience
• Demonstrated product mindset translating customer problems into MVPs
• Intuitive AI feature design prioritizing trustworthiness and helpfulness
• High ownership in 0->1 environments with pragmatic trade-off capabilities
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
• Modern JavaScript framework expertise (React, Angular, Vue.js, Ember)
• 10+ years server-side web technology experience (Node.js, Java, Python, Scala, C#, C++, Go)
• Proven end-to-end generative AI product shipping experience
• Deep LLM familiarity including RAG, prompt design, evaluation, and production AI quality/safety monitoring

Salary: $190,900 - $253,750 USD
