Staff Software Engineer - AI Product (NYC)

As one of the first engineers in the NYC Engineering office, you'll join a small, nimble team innovating to build new products from the ground up. The goal is to leverage Databricks' data and AI power to deliver vertical AI applications for technical and business users in a true 0-to-1 environment.

The impact you'll have

• Create novel, never-seen-before interfaces for GenAI agents that manage complex workflows while keeping the human in the loop through inspectability and transparency
• Partner with product management, design, and engineering teams to build intuitive, scalable solutions
• Lead with hands-on full-stack software development for dynamic, user-centric experiences
• Enable product-led growth through seamless onboarding and sharing capabilities
• Direct the future of intuitive agentic applications at Databricks
• Establish best practices for building valuable AI products

What we look for

• 10+ years experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Demonstrated product mindset translating customer problems into MVPs
• Care for intuitive, trustworthy AI features
• High ownership in 0->1 environments with pragmatic trade-offs
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
• Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, Vue/Ember)
• 10+ years server-side web technologies (Node.js, Java, Python, Scala, C#, C++, Go)
• Proven experience building and shipping end-to-end generative AI products with UI/UX components
• Hands-on experience with LLMs and techniques like RAG, prompt design, evaluation, and monitoring AI quality and safety in production

Salary: $190,900 - $253,750 USD
