About the Role:
This is a hands-on technical leadership position (player-coach) leading a 3-person LLM engineering team with significant coding time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ship Code & Lead from the Front:
- Act as player-coach with significant hands-on coding time
- Own the core chat loop: optimize context windows, memory/RAG retrieval, inference latency
- Write production code and architect LLM systems handling massive scale
- Own the Model Lifecycle:
- Drive strategy for SFT (Supervised Fine-Tuning) and RLHF/DPO
- Manage data sourcing, labeling, and cleaning for model improvements
- Architect High-Precision Moderation:
- Design nuanced, context-aware moderation systems beyond binary safe/unsafe flags
- Build custom classifiers for content moderation in NSFW environment
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years engineering experience shipping ML/LLM features to millions of users
- Proficient in Python/PyTorch and modern LLM stack (vLLM, HuggingFace, fine-tuning pipelines, eval frameworks)
- Comfortable working with NSFW/uncensored content moderation challenges
- Understanding of prompt conditioning, temperature, and sampling effects
- Production-focused mindset over academic perfection
- Ownership mentality obsessing over metrics and user experience
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary range: $50,000-$180,000+ USD with equity
