Senior Backend Engineer, Agentic

Inflection AI is building the next generation of conversational AI. We're hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to design and operate the systems that power agentic workflows for millions of users.

LOCATION

Palo Alto, California (in-office).

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design agentic backend systems including orchestration, memory, retrieval, and tool integrations
• Operate high-availability inference pipelines optimizing latency, cost, and quality
• Build internal platforms (service templates, CI/CD, observability, evaluation)
• Partner with researchers and frontend teams on user-facing features

MUST HAVE

• 10–15 years backend engineering in cloud production systems
• Demonstrated shipping of agentic AI systems with real user impact
• Production expertise: Python, Postgres, Redis, AWS/GCP/Azure, containers, Kubernetes
• LLM application patterns: RAG, tool use, evaluation loops, and the latency/cost/quality tradeoffs
• Independent ownership driving systems to production

NICE TO HAVE

• Agent orchestration frameworks: LangGraph, LlamaIndex, OpenAI/Anthropic Agent SDKs
• Evaluation tools: LangSmith, Braintrust
• Streaming, queueing, vector infrastructure experience
• Customer-facing on-call SLO ownership
• Open-source agent/LLM contributions

COMPENSATION

Base salary $350,000–$500,000 USD plus meaningful equity. Medical/dental/vision, 401(k) matching, unlimited PTO, parental leave, and visa support for international employees in the Bay Area.
