About the Role

Recursion (NASDAQ: RXRX) seeks a Senior AI Engineer to design, build, and evolve their internal AI Agent ecosystem within the IT Engineering team. The focus is on complex, scalable agentic frameworks and platforms that systematically eliminate toil.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect multi-agent orchestration frameworks handling business and scientific workflows
  • Design internal developer platforms and shared libraries for organization-wide agent deployment
  • Engineer autonomous operations and infrastructure-as-code systems
  • Establish LLMOps observability standards for debugging non-deterministic AI behaviors
  • Translate business goals into technical architectures with cross-functional leadership
  • Serve as technical leader, mentoring team through architectural reviews

Required Experience

  • 7+ years software engineering with focus on distributed systems and platform engineering
  • Production-grade AI solutions experience
  • Python mastery and modern software design principles
  • GenAI stack expertise: advanced RAG, vector stores, stateful agent memory
  • Shared library development demonstrated success
  • Expert API design and middleware for secure AI-enterprise integration
  • LLMOps: observability, evaluation frameworks, async agent debugging
  • Superior communication translating technical trade-offs to business value

Nice-to-Haves

  • Computer Science degree or ML/AI research experience
  • Knowledge Graphs and GraphRAG familiarity
  • Fine-tuning open-weights models or Small Language Model implementation
  • PII/PHI compliance and guardrails
  • Terraform or Pulumi expertise
  • Event-driven architecture design

Compensation: $134,200 - $205,800 base annually, plus annual bonus and equity compensation.
