AI Engineer

Zoom is hiring an AI Engineer in Seattle to build production AI systems focused on intelligent agents. This role is part of Zoom's AI Incubation team, developing infrastructure for agent execution at scale and production-ready AI agents demonstrating real-world reasoning capabilities for the Zoom AI Companion.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement multi-step reasoning agents with tool integration
• Develop prompt orchestration and evaluation approaches
• Implement safeguards against prompt injection and unsafe outputs
• Design asynchronous job orchestration pipelines
• Build scalable inference and runtime systems
• Implement cost controls (token limits, step caps, runtime restrictions)
• Create observability tools for agent behavior tracing
• Ensure enterprise-grade reliability, security, and data isolation

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years software engineering experience
• LLM, prompt engineering, or agent framework experience
• Model serving, inference optimization, or async processing systems knowledge
• Vector databases, embeddings, or retrieval systems familiarity
• Secure system design expertise (authentication, rate limiting, multi-tenant isolation)
• AI system evaluation using structured testing and metrics
• Developer platform or AI API building experience
• Proficiency in Python, Java, Go, or similar languages

Salary: $151,800 - $332,200
