Forward Deployed AI Engineer

indigo.ai is the leading platform in Italy for building next-generation AI Agents that transform how companies communicate with their customers. Since 2016 it has helped enterprises in finance, insurance, utilities, retail, and e-commerce evolve their customer experience through conversational AI.

As a Forward Deployed AI Engineer (Milan, hybrid), the core of the role is functional, architectural and experiential: your value is imagining how an assistant should work (its architecture, flows, and behavior) and making it actually work in production with enterprise customers.

What you'll do:

• Architect agentic systems: routing, guardrails, and flow design.
• Control hallucinations and define agent boundaries.
• Translate business objectives into agent behavior.
• Manage UX across voice, chat, and messaging channels.
• Direct AI coding tools (e.g. Claude Code) for implementation.
• Deploy to production and iteratively optimize.
• Guide and enable clients in their decisions, coordinating cross-functionally.

Requirements:

• Agentic architectural judgment — designing systems end-to-end.
• Hallucination prevention and reliability control.
• Product/functional mindset with UX orientation.
• Daily use of agentic coding tools.
• Demonstrated experience shipping virtual assistants or AI products.
• API integration awareness, security/data governance basics, ability to read Python, GDPR/EU AI Act familiarity.
• Native Italian + fluent English.

Nice-to-have: conversational platform experience, no-code automation tools (n8n, Make, Zapier), enterprise client exposure, Spanish.

Compensation: competitive (fixed + variable), aligned to seniority and market benchmarks, plus performance bonus.
