Founding AI Engineer
Agentic Frameworks
About the Role
Alago is tackling construction inefficiency by building an AI co-worker that extends the Projektsteuerer (project manager), while every project makes our system measurably better. We are pre-seed funded by Realyze Ventures with backing from major European construction groups and D11Z.
As Founding AI Engineer, you will own three core problem areas:
- Agent Harness Engineering — Design multi-agent systems for construction documents that route 400-page tenders and protocol archives to specialized extraction, reasoning, and evaluation pipelines with appropriate context.
- Project Memory Systems — Build a decision graph tracking what was decided, why, by whom, and outcomes, creating compounding advantage across projects.
- Context Compression — Solve the open research problem of determining what to retain, forget, or surface across 5-year projects with 50+ stakeholders.
Tech stack: TypeScript, Next.js, Vercel, Supabase (Postgres + pgvector), LangChain, Vercel AI SDK, LangFuse, shadcn/ui, Claude Code, Cursor.
Requirements: Product-focused reasoning (pain → solution → measurable outcomes), velocity with reliability, comfort with ambiguity. Bonus: strong open-source work, early-stage startup experience, document understanding or agent systems expertise. English required; German helpful but not mandatory.
Location: Munich, Germany (hybrid – 3 days per week in-office).
Compensation: €70,000–€90,000/year + 0.5%–1.5% equity (4-year vest, 1.5-year cliff). €500/month AI tooling budget per engineer. EGYM Wellpass sponsorship.
