What's the opportunity?

We're hiring a Senior Engineer to join our AI Developer team. This team is responsible for building the AI agents and developer tools that transform how engineering work gets done at Intercom. Today, 90%+ of our code is already written by Claude, and we're operationalizing AI for R&D through agent-based tooling and internal systems.

You'll work on building developer agents that automate code review, refactoring, bug fixing, test generation, and other parts of the software development lifecycle. The agents you build will be used internally by hundreds of engineers every day, with a tight feedback loop and measurable productivity impact.

What will I be doing?

• Build and own AI-driven automation agents that integrate into developer workflows
• Design and ship agent systems that interact with code, CI/CD pipelines, and internal tools
• Improve the reliability, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness of AI agents in production
• Work with prompt engineering, evals, tool calling, and LLM orchestration
• Partner with engineers across R&D to identify the highest-leverage automation opportunities
• Push the boundary of what's possible when developers and AI agents collaborate

What skills do I need?

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong backend fundamentals in a modern stack (Ruby, Python, JavaScript, or similar)
• Experience building, deploying, or operating LLM-powered features in production
• Comfort with ambiguity and a strong bias toward shipping
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Strong product instincts and judgement

Bonus skills

• Experience with Claude, Codex, or similar AI coding tools as an end-user
• Built or contributed to agent frameworks or evaluation systems
• Experience with CI/CD, developer platforms, or internal tooling
