About the Role

Eucalyptus is hiring a Senior Software Engineer (AI) in Sydney, Australia. 40-person engineering team.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design production-grade AI features across their healthcare platform
  • Integrate with foundational LLM APIs (Gemini, OpenAI, etc.) and design scalable architectures for generative use cases, including RAG and multi-agent systems
  • Lead the creation and ownership of shared LLM infrastructure (prompt management, evaluation tooling, safety/observability) in collaboration with Data Engineering and ML Ops
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product, design, and operations teams
  • Serve as AI subject matter expert through demos and documentation
  • Ensure systems are production-ready and safe

Success Metrics:

  • Deliver one customer-facing LLM feature within five months
  • Enable all engineering teams to independently build LLM features through shared tooling and best practices

Requirements:

  • Strong full-stack experience (TypeScript, Go/Node, GCP)
  • At least 1-2 years of recent, hands-on experience building LLM-powered features in production (e.g. conversational agents, personalised recommendation engines, retrieval-augmented systems, or agentic collaborative multi-agent systems)
  • Familiarity with LangChain, LangGraph, RAG patterns, and other common LLM integration frameworks
  • Exceptional project breakdown skills
  • Excellent communication abilities

Bonuses: Regulated environment experience, AI observability expertise, team AI adoption guidance.

Tech stack: React, React Native, Expo, TypeScript, Apollo, Tailwind frontend; Node.js (TypeScript), Go microservices, Federated GraphQL, gRPC, Protobufs, Pub/Sub, PostgreSQL, GCP Kubernetes Engine backend.
