About the Role

Senior AI Engineer - Agentic AI at ING

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands (Hybrid)

The Analytics Engineering Center of Excellence team at ING seeks an AI Engineer passionate about modern software engineering and agentic AI systems. You'll develop and scale distributed agentic AI solutions from concept through production, collaborating with data scientists and product owners to build multi-agent frameworks and orchestrate agent interactions, ensuring robust, scalable AI capabilities integrated within the bank for business impact.

What you'll do:

  • Design and deploy distributed agentic AI solutions
  • Build multi-agent frameworks and orchestrate agent interactions
  • Integrate agentic capabilities into ING's banking systems
  • Collaborate with data scientists and product owners
  • Work with modern software engineering practices and agentic AI systems

What we're looking for:

  • Python programming proficiency
  • Microservices, REST/gRPC APIs, async programming experience
  • Distributed software design with cloud-managed services (preferably GCP)
  • Deployment automation (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, CI/CD)
  • Familiarity with agentic frameworks (ADK, LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI)
  • Multi-agent systems design experience
  • Practical LLM experience (Gemini, Claude, etc.)
  • RAG systems and vector database implementation
  • Basic Terraform knowledge, networking fundamentals
  • Neural networks, model training/testing, LLM architectures
  • Version control, testing, documentation, code review

Nice to have:

  • Production-ready software engineering mindset with build-from-scratch experience
  • Java/Kotlin for internal system connectivity
  • Monitoring/observability tools (Google CloudTrace, LangSmith, Langfuse, Phoenix Arize)
  • Generative AI implementation experience
  • High-load API development and OpenAPI governance
  • Event-driven architecture proficiency
  • Open-source contributions
