About the Role

This is a hybrid position based in Greater NYC, requiring 3-4 days per week in the Manhattan office. The Forward Deployed Engineer works directly with clients and internal delivery teams to build and deploy AI-powered solutions. Responsibilities include owning projects end-to-end: scoping ambiguous problems, prototyping AI workflows, and deploying scalable systems. The role combines AI engineering, software building, and technical consulting.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with delivery leaders to scope technical solutions to operational problems
• Identify workflow optimizations through deep engagement with customer problems and develop stable, scalable solutions
• Design and implement AI-powered workflows using LLMs, embedding models, retrieval systems, and automation tools
• Translate real-world constraints into engineering solutions
• Iterate quickly based on real-time feedback from operators and clients
• Build reusable tooling and infrastructure that accelerates future deployments

What We Need

Experience Requirements:

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with significant time on data, ML, or backend systems
• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or related fields OR equivalent professional experience

Technical Skills:

• Deep Python proficiency with hands-on experience using Hugging Face, LangChain, OpenAI, and Pinecone
• Full-stack and API-based deployment expertise including Docker, FastAPI, Kubernetes, and cloud environments (GCP, AWS)
• Workflow orchestration libraries, pub/sub systems (Kafka), and schema governance experience
• Data governance and operations expertise including Unity Catalog, cluster/job orchestration, data contracts, Delta/ETL pipelines, and replay processes

Soft Skills:

• Strong product and distributed systems understanding
• Experience building usable systems from messy data and ambiguous requirements
• Excellent communication and client-facing abilities with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Proven project ownership from scoping through deployment in ambiguous, high-stakes environments
• Willingness to be on-call for customer situations

Compensation & Benefits

Annual salary range: $180,000 - $264,000 USD

Offers include bonus and equity. Compensation varies by location based on cost of living while maintaining internal equity. Final compensation depends on location, experience, skills, knowledge, internal pay equity, and market conditions.
