About Sezzle
Sezzle's Applied AI team is on a mission to redefine how AI delivers real-world business impact. We're building the platforms and capabilities that power Sezzle's AI-driven future. Our team develops the systems behind smarter, more autonomous workflows that improve productivity, decision-making, and customer experiences.
About the Role
We're looking for an AI Engineer I to join our Applied AI team. As an AI Engineer I, you'll work alongside experienced engineers and product leaders to develop end-to-end AI solutions that span the entire stack. You'll build AI-powered features, intelligent automation, and agentic systems that bring AI directly into Sezzle's customer-facing products and internal tools. The role spans full-stack engineering work — from backend services and APIs to data layers and frontend interfaces — all unified through AI capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop AI-powered platforms alongside senior engineers, contributing to scalable, high-quality systems.
- Own end-to-end project delivery, taking AI initiatives from discovery through to production deployment.
- Build full-stack components, including backend services, APIs, data layers, and frontend interfaces.
- Translate business problems into AI-enabled technical solutions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with senior engineers, product managers, designers, and stakeholders.
- Participate in production support, code reviews, and incident response.
Minimum Requirements
- 1-3 years of professional experience in software engineering, AI engineering, or machine learning.
- Solid foundation in production-grade full-stack systems and software engineering best practices.
- Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and React (or equivalent frontend frameworks).
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with ML/data science principles, including supervised/unsupervised learning, feature engineering, and statistical reasoning.
- Understanding of transformer architectures (BERT, GPT, etc.) and attention mechanisms.
- Experience with text embeddings, vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector), and similarity search.
- Familiarity with NLP techniques (text classification, named entity recognition, etc.).
- Hands-on with real-world agentic frameworks workflow engines such as langchain/graph, n8n, Make.
- Cloud-native development (e.g., AWS) with knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Exposure to Golang.
Compensation: $2,500-$3,333 USD/month gross.
