About the Role
The World Food Programme is hiring a Junior Consultant for AI Integration and Investigative Technologies, based in Rome with remote working options. Contract duration is June 2026 to May 2027.
The consultant will design, develop, and deploy AI and machine learning solutions on Microsoft Azure, including:
- Developing machine learning applications with LLM capabilities (natural language querying, automated summarization, entity extraction)
- Building agentic AI workflows for investigative tasks (cross-referencing communications, mapping entity relationships, generating analytical briefings)
- Creating interactive dashboards and data visualization tools
- Deploying intelligent chatbot interfaces for evidence querying
- Implementing security safeguards and audit controls
- Designing automation workflows using Power Automate and Azure Logic Apps
- Implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation pipelines
- Supervising AI Integration interns
- Maintaining technical documentation
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 1 year in AI/ML development, software engineering, or data science
- Python proficiency (Flask, FastAPI, Django)
- Microsoft Azure platform expertise (OpenAI, AI Search, Functions, Blob Storage)
- Large Language Model integration and prompt engineering
- REST API development
- Data security principles
- RAG architecture experience
- Fluent English (C-level); UN language knowledge advantageous
